Welcome.

This course is for 11-12 grade students of the TED academy. Students are given scientific problems to solve and they develop the soutions using scientific method. They make use of the internet to get information on their problem and then come up with the design and eventually test their hypotheses through experimentation. Projects include bottle rockets, trebuchets, bridges, towers, mouse trap car, and robots, just to name a few.

Students are given a chance to compete with other schools to demonstrate their skills in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Students also conduct online research on the how's and why's of scientific research and design. They are expected to present their work using the available computer technology.

Course Description:

Students conduct laboratory and field investigations using a systematic approach, critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and problem solving to make informed decisions. They formulate hypotheses to guide experimentation and data collection, analyze published research, develop and implement investigative designs, collect, organize, and should be able to synthesize valid conclusions from evaluated qualitative and quantitative data. They should be able to communicate conclusions clearly and concisely.
